Chapter 1
CHAPTER 01
Carrying four cement bags that totaled a backbreaking 440 pounds, Denver looked like it was no big deal.
With steady steps, he climbed the ladder to the second floor of the building in the construction.
Today’s grind was simple but grueling.
Hauling all the cement and sandbags upstairs.
His reward? A measly 30 bucks.
It wasn’t much, but he had no choice.
He was working for the future of his family.
Denver carefully placed the bags in a dry corner, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow.
Just as he straightened up, a distinct click-clack caught his ear.
The rhythm of high heels on concrete.
A woman in a sleek purple dress with three-quarter sleeves.
Her dark hair flowing like silk, and a face as radiant as the morning sun.
She looked and swayed like a model, and was so out of place in this dirty site!
Every other worker dropped their jaws as they saw her.
What was a woman like her—dressed to kill in a stunning outfit—doing at a dusty construction site?
From the distance, her wide, sparkling eyes were locked on one person: Denver.
"Boss!"
Her voice rang out, clear and confident, cutting through the hum of the site.
Denver’s eyes widened in response.
“Watch out!”
A loud CRACK! shattered the air.
The tall brick wall next to her groaned and began to tilt.
The woman, completely absorbed in her excitement at seeing him, didn’t even notice the looming danger.
By the time she realized, the wall was already collapsing.
Denver didn’t think. He just moved.
Like a blur. Next second, he grabbed her waist from behind and jumped forth in a diving motion.
BUDOOM~~!!
Dust exploded into the air, swallowing the site in a gray haze.
Denver and the brunette were on the floor, with her lying on top of him.
Their eyes quickly locking on each other.
Her lips curled into a small, knowing smile.
To leap from a ladder 50 feet away and reach her in under three seconds.
Then save her from a collapsing wall?
That kind of speed and reflexes wasn’t just rare.
It was extraordinary.
And now, standing right in front of her, was the man she’d been searching for.
The other workers whispered among themselves.
Some said it was a sudden gust of wind that toppled the wall; others weren’t so sure.
The woman paid no attention to the murmurs or the chaos around them.
Her gaze stayed firmly on Denver.
Her smile emotional.
“Finally find you, boss… It’s great to see you’re still as sharp as ever.”
Denver frowned, confused.
He had no idea what she was talking about.
"Uh, Miss… I think you’ve got the wrong guy. I’m not your boss."
A flicker of disappointment crossed her face, but she quickly covered it up.
“You’re Hawkers’ top-level! Don’t you remember anything at all?!”
Now Denver was sure she had the wrong person.
“I’m just Denver, a regular construction worker.”
She glanced at his neck, her eyes catching a small mole there. Her smile deepened.
"You’re not just any Denver," she said. "It’s really good to see you again."
Her words felt heavy with meaning, but Denver didn’t have time to figure them out.
“You must be in shock from the fall. Sit down for a few minutes.”
He was already thinking about leaving.
Today was Diane’s birthday—her first since they’d gotten engaged.
He had planned a special surprise for her.
Now he was busy finishing his task as soon as possible.
But the strange woman still gripped his hand.
Denver frowned.
Why was she being unreasonable?
“Trust me!”
She insisted, flashing a mischievous smile.
“Just hear me out. You must have lost your memories in the mission. We have been looking for you for 3 years...”
“I don’t have time for this,”
Denver said firmly, finally pulling his hand away.
Realizing she couldn’t get him to stay, she sighed, clearly frustrated.
Then she reached into her purse and pulled out a sleek bank card.
“If you won’t listen, at least take this,”
She said, holding it out to him.
Denver didn’t budge.
It screamed scam—the kind where you accept something and suddenly owe money you never agreed to.
Seeing his hesitation, she smirked.
She leaned forward, and slipped the card into his pocket.
“Check out this card. It’ll give you the answers you’re looking for, about your past.”
She said, adding a wink before turning on her heels and walking off.
“What was that all about? Is she even okay in the head?”
He shook his head and walked away, lifting his helmet to scratch his temple.
Doubt flickered through his mind.
She was right. He did lose his memories.
“I don’t remember anything that happened prior to being saved by Uncle Richard. But…”
He had already formed a new life with Richard’s family, and he didn’t really want to shift his focus anywhere else right now.
After Richard died from a tragic accident, Denver took on all the responsibilities of his family.
Today, on the big day of his fiancee, who is also Richard’s daughter, Denver especially had no time for anything else.
When the project manager’s whistle finally blew, Denver smiled, pulled off his helmet, and rushed home.
A bouquet of variegated roses was in his hand.
Something small and hidden was tucked in his pocket.
The house was quiet and bare.
The kind of emptiness that comes with moving into a new place without furniture yet.
He bounded up the stairs, three steps at a time.
He skidded to a stop outside their bedroom door.
Grinning, he raised a hand to knock but froze mid-motion.
Noises coming from inside.
It was Diane’s voice mixed with another man’s voice.
“Are you sure we can keep doing this here?”
A man’s voice asked, casual but clear.
“He won’t be back until evening,” replied a woman.
Diane’s voice.
The words hit Denver like a punch to the gut, making him stumble back in disbelief.
His chest tightened like a storm.
He staggered, and his foot knocked over a vase sitting behind him.
It toppled to the floor, shattering loudly on impact.
The noise startled the people inside.
The door creaked open.
Diane stepped out, her face pale as she locked eyes with Denver, frozen in place like a statue.
Behind her, the man leaned lazily against the doorframe.
He smirked as if he’d been caught stealing candy, not someone else’s future.
Denver looked at Diane with utter disappointment and immense anger in his eyes.
“Who the hell is this clown?”
He growled, his voice trembling with fury.
“Are you fucking him?”
“D-Denver,” Diane stammered, her usual confidence shattered.
The blonde, her signature mole near her chin trembling with her, tried to explain.
“It’s not what you think! Stephen was just helping me with—”
“Helping you with what? Screaming for sex?”
Denver’s voice boomed, echoing through the house.
“Don’t lie to me, Diane! I heard everything!”
Even caught red-handed, she had the nerve to try and cover it up?!
The man behind Diane pushed her aside, interrupting her response.
Denver’s fists clenched as the stranger stepped forward.
His cocky smirk igniting every ounce of anger in him.
“So you’re the pathetic fiancé she’s been complaining about? You really do look like a loser.”
Stephen grinned wickedly,
“You smell like cement and shit mixed together.”
He walked one step closer to Denver, looked him in the eye.
“YEAH. I’m the one who’s been fucking your girl."
"And guess what? This wasn’t the first time."
"It sure as hell won’t be the last!”

The Return of Don Denver CHAPTER 381
Denver was talking with Madam Anatolia.“I see too many trees in this zone,” Anatolia warned him. “In case a fire breaks out, people will die from suffocation before they can even escape.”“Thanks for your advice, but they don’t easily burn,” Denver told her. “They are created by Green Fang.”“Oh,” Anatolia was pleasantly surprised. “I see.” She tapped the wooden stage underneath. “So, everything here was also…”Denver nodded. “Please sit wherever you are comfortable.”“Can I get some of your time after this event?” Anatolia quickly asked while grabbing his hands. He could feel that she was in a bit of desperation, so he reluctantly nodded. “I can’t guarantee it, but whenever I can make time, I will talk to you.”Anatolia put her visiting card in his hand and then went down the stage and sat at a nearby table.Just then, Denver saw a helicopter landing. He saw the symbol of an eagle on its tail. “He’s here, huh…”Denver stepped down from the stage, wanting to personally greet the curr

The Return of Don Denver CHAPTER 380
A couple of hours earlier.Diane and Leo were in the chopper. It’s been a few minutes since she boarded, but he didn’t speak a word to her.“I heard you got cheated on by your lover,” Diane said. “Is that why you’re not talking to me?”Leo didn’t say anything and just played a zombie-shooting game on his tablet.“I got cheated on by my ex-fiance and my biological sister,” Diane added.Leo’s fingers stopped tapping the tablet, and he glanced at her, not minding that his character in the game was getting killed.“I thought he was my own, but I didn’t see the betrayal coming,” Diane smiled sadly. “My only wish was to find a good man and have kids, but it remained a wish. I no longer have the intention of loving or marrying anymore. I just want to earn some money and live a lavish life. Money helps buy most of the things in this world, after all.”“...What did you do to your ex-fiance and sister?” Leo asked.Diane’s mouth turned down. “What can I do? One is my lover, and the other is my s

The Return of Don Denver CHAPTER 379
Moments after Leander left their sight, Sheryl and Catherine greeted other guests.Alex came rushing over to them and whispered something in Sheryl’s ears, greatly surprising her.“Is this real?” Sheryl looked at him.“I received an invitation card as well,” Alex replied. “It came from the king’s castle. I kept it in the Rose Tower, but I thought you should be the one to tell the boss about it.”“What’s he talking about?” Catherine asked curiously.“The king has announced the starting date of Rankers Festival,” Sheryl said, “and also the gifts for the top three positions. The gift for the second and third positions are great, but the gift for the first position is the Black Hawk Card.”“Black Hawk Card? What’s that?”“It’s an untraceable credit card with unlimited balance,” Sheryl said. “Only three people in Hawkers have them. One is the king himself. Elissa is the second one.”“Who’s the third person?” Catherine quickly asked. “Is it the council president? Or is it the first ranker M

Catherine and Sheryl were both at the entrance of the port, greeting the guests and directing them toward the stage where Denver was.At some point, Leander arrived and offered a handshake.Sheryl held his hand. Using this opportunity, he didn’t let go of her hand and kept smiling.“Are you seeking death?” Sheryl asked with a cold smile.“Death in a beauty’s arms sounds romantic,” Leander replied. “I feel tempted to experience it.”“Cut the crap and let go of my hand,” Sheryl said.“I will… if you promise to spare some time for me tomorrow,” Leander said. “My dad is pressuring me to marry, you see. And I don’t want to marry someone who’s more interested in the mirror than me.”“What makes you think I’d be less interested in the mirror than your face?” Sheryl asked back, yanking her hand and freeing herself. She was able to do it easily because Leander let go of her at the same time.“You worked for someone even after he’s gone for three years,” Leander said. “This kind of loyalty can’

At the Rose Port.Ships were docking, and helicopters also landed in many places. There were also sea planes landing on the beach. All the guests were billionaires and were accompanied by powerful bodyguards.“Look at all these moths gathering at the flame,” Minerva laughed while observing from the watch tower. “They have no idea that they’re all going to get burned.”Catherine was standing right next to her. “Why do you speak negatively on an important occasion like this?”“Haha, just because you praise shit, it doesn’t become a diamond,” Minerva retorted.“Are you talking about yourself?” Catherine said.Minerva cast a cold glance at her. “If anyone spoke to me like this, I’d usually have them under guillotine.”“C’mon, you’re an uninvited guest,” Catherine put her arm around Minerva’s shoulders, surprising and annoying her even more. “I’m already treating you kindly by giving you this much attention and time. So, stop nagging and just stay here until the event finishes, okay? This

Many rankers in the top thousand were very much interested in what’s happening at Rose Park. However, they did not receive an invitation card.Even the ones who were acquainted with Denver in the past weren’t invited, which made them wonder what Denver was up to.The council president Natalia was talking to the special slave squad, SSS, made out of the six handpicked slaves for the sole purpose of infiltration and spying. Each of these six slaves were specialized in a certain skill. Together, they were capable of subduing even a royal knight.Nobody other than Natalia knew of their identities.“Go to Rose Park and observe everything,” Natalia told them, tossing two photos on the floor. “A lot of people will attend the launching of the port, so you will definitely get an opportunity. When you get the chance, kill the two wings of Denver. One is Green Fang Sheryl, and the name of the second one is Catherine. Without them, he’s going to fall sooner or later.”Because Natalia had received

I just started to the book. Normally, I don't read books of this genre, the "poor to rich" cliche. However, the writing of the Main character…Denver is just perfect. He is a hero, a brave character with or without his wealth or power. I'm looking forward to completing this book.

it's not a bad book, as you get more into it it's more fantasy related which I really appreciate, it does need to be edited a little bit better.
